Gateway
Community Treatment in Chester provides quality clinical rehabilitation
services designed to enable people with psychiatric disabilities
to function to the best of their ability. Each client receives case
management, psycho-therapy and medication services, and has the
opportunity to participate in a variety of enriching activities
through the Chester social center, including vocational, psychosocial
and recreational programming that teach skills and symptom management.
Both the Case Management and Social Rehabilitation programs actively collaborate with other community-based organizations such as three of the local Visiting Nurse associations, the Connecticut Bureau of Rehabilitation Services, Kuhn Employment services, Easter Seals and Meals on Wheels, the Estuary Transit District, among others. These collaborations are designed to enhance the supports and resources necessary for clients to achieve their recovery goals.
Gateway Community Treatment in Chester employs the "psychosocial rehabilitation" model, which is a therapeutic approach that encourages a mentally ill person to develop his or her fullest capacities through learning and environmental supports. All Chester clients are DMHAS
referred.
